OH SHI--

So I actually didn't die. =D

But I did feel inclined to draw something. It's been a while since I drew anything substantial and even longer since I uploaded something here (what the...since February?! FML). That needed to be fixed.

As always, I find stuff to nitpick after the fact. Oh, well.

So I'm still plugging along on "Project Guardian", which is my own personal challenge project (more info here). In January, I reintroduced Oze back into my gallery, and this time it's Jinnei. He's only appeared once in my gallery here, and only then in floating head form. I updated his hair. Also, I gave his uniform a color scheme. The last time I drew the original Guardian uniform was back in 2006, when I introduced Toushu, the original Guardian Earth. I think he may be next on my list to redraw; Christ, that is some fugly old artwork right there. XD

I just realized that I never gave Planet a symbol like Earth has. Hum. Next time, I suppose. I think someplace I have a symbol? Like, in one of my old college notebooks? But I have no idea which one it's in, nor even where any of them are at this time.

Speaking of hair, you can't really tell from this reduced-size version, but that hair of his is actually comprised of lots of different strands. I had found a realistic hair tut ages ago, but only now tried it out. It probably would have shown up better if he didn't have such dark hair.

As mentioned in that sketch dump of heads, Jinnei is the first Guardian Planet; his son, Junsui, is the next (and last).

This pose is a bit awkward, but that's about how it looks on Posemaniacs. His right arm is giving me issues, but I must have thought it looked good at the time. I do like the angle of his face, though; that came out looking pretty good, despite my first time drawing that angle.

Why do I make such bizarre backgrounds? I couldn't tell you, because I have no answer (mostly I just like playing around with filters and seeing what I can come up with; plus, I suck at drawing "regular" backgrounds and I'm lazy XD). I had originally wanted Planet's color scheme to to purple and gray, but it looked too bland with his hair (which, in turn, would have looked too bland with Junsui's hair, which is also black) and would have made him look too much like Sasuke, so I changed it to green and tan. But I was bound and determined to put purple and gray in there someplace, I guess.
