There she laid in front of him in the cold rain. She was there, lying down not speaking a word. None. He looked at the body, just standing quietly. He wanted to run, but his body would not budge. He was completely paralyzed and his hand slightly twitched by the sight. He didn't want to see the red liquid running away. He continued staring... until he heard her cough. He quickly rushed to her aid and held her in his arms. She slowly opened her eyes and her brown silky hair was pushed on one side by the man who held her. She smiled weakly, and he took off his mask.
"A-am I too late?" he asks in fear. The woman just shakes her head and holds onto her wound. She knew that she wasn't going to make it, especially since her blood was quickly being washed away. She violently coughed up some of it and he held her tighter.
"AMOUR!" he screamed. She calmed down and her lover started screaming for help. The woman caught his attention by holding his face in the palm of her hand. It may have been covered in blood, but he did not care. He just had to bring her to safety. The man bit his bottom lip and stared at her green eyes with his dark blue ones.
"... Amour. I believe it's my time to go," she says in merely a whisper. He shakes his head rabidly and holds her wrist gently. He did not want to hurt her any more. She already had 3 deep stab wounds and if he injured her even the slightest bit, he'd regret it... horribly.
"N-non. I can save you. I already called for some help. They're going to arrive in a few minu-" he stopped as he saw her shake her head in disapproval.
"Non, amour. Louvel, I won't make it. You and I know that. But listen to me... just listen," she mumbled. He gripped onto her and did what he was told. A tear escaped from his eye and she just smiled.
"Don't cry... when I leave. I promise I will watch over you. We... we completed the mission. You should be happy."
"I can't. I'm afraid. I'm scared. I'm very scared right now. I don't want to lose you. Don't leave me here! I have failed to protect you. Please, just wait a few more minutes... Jacqueline. D-don't die. You'll be safe in no time," he quickly said. The couple looked at each other and she quietly shook her head no.
"Promise me... you'll find someone else as I pass away. Promise me, you'll love that person more than me. Whether man or woman, I will support you all the way..." her voice trailed off with the pacing of the rain. Her hand slipped away from Louvel's face and she was gone. He stared at her lifeless body for a few moments and shook her.
"J-Jacqueline? ... Jacqueline?" He shouted her name one last time in the cold and fast pacing water and sobbed in her chest. The people who came to rescue her were just a few minutes too late and the criminal he killed was lifeless as well. Louvel carried his lover back to the helicopter the medics came from and held her.
... Will he ever find someone else to love? He thinks not.
