Fox Tales chapter 1
The deep red fox stood in the shower, feeling the water fall from his fur. When the water turned icy, he reached down and turned the water off. He reached out for a towel, only to touch the wet, tiled wall. Sighing, he climbed out. Walking to his roommate’s room, putting his hands on his hips.
“Why aren’t there towels?” Tenke asked with a slightly high voice for a 17 year old boy.
“Cause…I forgot.” He turned the page in his book. “I sowwy.” The black wolf said cutely, flattening his ears. Putting his book down finally and looked over the fox’s body, his eyes stopping on Tenke’s sheath.
“Hey Ishtaar.” He clapped his hands to get the black wolf’s attention. “Eyes here.” He said and pointed to his face. Ishtaar snapped his head up and flattened his ears, turning red in slight embarrassment. “You, now have o do this weeks, AND next weeks, too.”
“Aw come on, seriously?!” he asked and tossed his book to the side. He crawled on his bed to the fox. “Can’t I do something that is like, payless?” he asked, his tail drooped.
“You’d do my payless plan?” he asked wagging his tail. “You don’t remember things well do you?” he asked and walked out of the room, his tail moved faster.
“Tenke’s right” Ishtaar sat on the edge of his bed. “But, I’m to poor to do two weeks.” He curled his tail underneath himself. “Damn” he kicked his feet out and lay back on the bed with his feet hanging of the bed. “Whatever.” He said getting up, and went to Tenke’s room “ok, I’ll do the laundry” he said unable to see the fox. But he saw the tail coming from the closet. It stopped moving. Tenke came out of it, now wearing just boxers.
“Aww you got my hopes up.” He said playfully and started to pull the pants on. “Ok then, have fun” he said, “I got to go to my boyfriends now.” He said pulling a shirt on. “Bye now” he brushed past him, he tail teasing his arm.
Later that evening Tenke came into the house sad but made himself smile. Ishtaar looked at him and blink. “What’s wrong?” he asked getting up and standing in front of him. “You can tell me.” He added.
“Just didn’t want to leave him tonight.” He sighed then walked into his room and closed the door. Ishtaar walked over and listened, his wolf ears stood up. “Why…why’d he leave me.” He heard Tenke crying from the other side. He knocked on the door softly before walking in.
“Tenke, can we talk?” he asked seeing the shape on the bed shift. “What’s really wrong?” He asked. Shifting uneasily.
“It’s none of your business.” He sobbed turning his head to face away from the black wolf, laying his muzzle on his crossed arms. “Just leave me alone.” He flicked his tail in annoyance.
“Umm alright then” he said and walked slowly out the door, closing it with out a sound.
Tenke lay on the bed all night, the room was quiet only broken by his now gentle sobbing. Ishtaar had sat on the couch, trying to just forget about Tenke’s crying and what he had eavesdropped on. The whole atmosphere in the house was dreary and plain. The wolf had his ears completely flat against his skull, he started to slowly drift of to sleep on the couch.
Tenke got up, the fur on his face was more red then the rest from the tears. He sniffed and opened the door slowly. Looking at Ishtaar asleep, he walked into the bathroom and started another shower for himself. He stopped the water from going down the drain and watched the tub fill. He sighed, kneeling, he stuck his fingers in the raising water. When it was full he stood back up and started to take his clothes off. He stood fully undressed and he moved his hands over his soft fur.
He climbed into the tub and sat down. He looked dreamily at his feet. His vision getting blurry again. He tucked his legs up close to his body and put his head on his knees. His tears fell down into the water, making small dropping sounds in between he loud sobs. Tenke sat there for a long time, the water had turned cold and the sun started to shone through the small window above him. He picked his head up and looked through the ceiling at the bright blue sky, no clouds covering it at all. He got up, the water splashing down off his body. He looked and saw towels on the rack now. He smiled slightly then it disappeared again. He grabbed one and dried his fur off, then pulling his clothes on slowly. He rubbed the side of his muzzle and looked in the mirror. The stains had gone now, but his eyes still showed his sadness.
Ishtaar was on the couch, flipping through channels on their TV. He looked up at the bathroom door as Tenke came out of it. “Feeling better?” he asked and turned off the TV, standing up and put his hands behind his back.
“Just a little.” He said and went back to his room. He started to shut the door, but Ishtaar put his food between the door and its frame.
“Don’t go sulking again.” He said and pushed the door open. Tenke turned and went into his closet.
“I wasn’t going to.” he said and pulled out a folded shirt. Again he smiled and again it disappeared. He pulled last night’s shirt off and pulled the clean one over his red fur. “Privacy” he said as he picked up a pair pants. Ishtaar joked by sitting on the bed. Tenke dropped the pants and started to kick Ishtaar, “Out!” he laughed and started to push and pull him towards the door.
“Ok, ok I’m going.” he got up and made Tenke fall down as he ran out of the door. Tenke sighed and shut the door, making sure to lock it. He pulled the pants he had been wearing off and picked up the pair he had dropped.
Well, I do feel better, but it’s still going to take awhile. Tenke thought to him self as he put his legs in to the pants. Tenke stretched, he tail bushed out slightly. He unlocked the door and opened it, next seeing Ishtaar’s face above him. “You’re a very impatient wolf” he said trying to push him off. Ishtaar nodded quickly and grabbed the fox’s arms, pinning him. “Get off of me” he said flailing his legs wildly, the wolf shook his head ‘no’ now as he held his roommate down.
The black wolf eventually lost his balance and fell over, the fox jumping on top of him. Tenke was pushed off easier because he was smaller then the wolf, a characteristic of his species. Ishtaar got up and left the room again laughing. Tenke got up and straitened out his soft tail. He went out to the kitchen and pulled out a couple of pots before he was able to find the pan he needed. He stood up and turned towards the stove, yelping feeling his tail being pulled. He dropped the pan which landed on his paw, causing another yelp to rise in the house. Ishtaar came out and apologized constantly as the fox sat down and gently rubbed his paw.
After minutes of rubbing his sore paw and the non-stop ‘sorry’ of his roommate, Tenke got up and picked the pan up, placing it on the stove top before turning to Ishtaar and said “its alright, why do you apologize so much?” he asked before turning back to the stove.
“Cause I AM sorry.” he said and flattened his ears. “Sorry” he said after.
“I said it’s ok, god damn, stop apologizing.” he said rather roughly, causing the wolf’s tail to droop. Ishtaar walked out of the room wit s whine. Tenke blinked and laid his ears flat too. “I’m sorry” he said going to the fridge, pulling out a few things for his lunch. He started to put the pots he had gotten out away, waiting for the pan to heat up. Tenke did feel kind of bad for being so rough with Ishtaar; he just didn’t like it when people did that. W started cooking his grilled cheese and wagged his tail, the thought soon banished from his head. He sat down next to Ishtaar, looking at his face. “Hey cheer up, I didn’t mean it.” he said patting the wolf’s shoulder then biting into one of the sandwiches. Ishtaar looked over at the fox
“Yeah, ok. I just… didn’t mean to do that to you.” he whined slightly.
“The dropping the pot on my paw, or pulling my tail?” he asked between bites.
“You were the one with the pot in your hand, so it’s not my fault” he leaned back and turned the TV on.
Tenke grinned at him, “chain reactions, so inevitably, it was your fault” he joked and gave him the other sandwich. “Well I’m bored.” he said getting up and set the plate down in the sink. “Want to do anything?” he asked the wolf, who shrugged, flipping through the channels. He stopped at the hentai station they had. Tenke sighed, “Seriously?” Tenke asked and walked to his room, shutting the door now. He turned on this stereo and the MP3 he had plugged into in, turning the volume up on it.
