She is most known for her sensual and mocking performance to the gods, with which she lured Amaterasu, the Goddess of the Sun, out of her cave in which she had hidden in misery. Her return to the world meant light's resurrection on earth.

Ama-no-uzume, Ama-no-uzume-no-mikito or Uzume, might be translated as "whirling". She was called Daughter of Heaven and is the Japanese goddess of Laughter and Dance, Revelry and Health.
