At the LARP I went to, I participated as a barding satyr. Rather than make a boffer sword or spear, I made a weapon that classifies as a "blunt": a boffer lute.
It really works as a weapon (if you use the back half (brown half). I was delighted when other players assumed I was unarmed when I walked around with this thing. No, friends, it's a weapon. I promise.
