Kinda didn't expect someone so meddlesome to be wearing a mostly white outfit. Anyways, even though she has taken an emasculated appearance, it was for good measure. The damage left after the great war made the survivors desperate for supplies, so Merchant faced countless attempted raids and assaults. Years of combating frantic war-torn veterans would take its toll... and of course, Merchant got with the times. She chose an outfit that gave her the liberty of free movement and hacked her hair so raiders couldn't grab hold of it in attempts to subdue her.
So, taking on an emasculated facade, she developed some un-lady like mannerisms. Picked up smoking, boozing, and talking trash when needed. But she still is sharp-tongued, quick witted, and crafty when need be. She can change acts at the flip of a dime, which makes it even harder for others to tell what she is thinking.
