So...The time has come to paint the cover for "Black Dog" the first, at least, short story of
The Makeshift Man.
I got this far on a painting and decided to scrap it. Just not good enough for a cover, especially not for a first-and-maybe-only book. The composition, the color...strikes me as very "high school art class" in nature. So I must try again.
...If you've got any good ideas for the cover illustration, do please speak up.

I think it looks pretty good, but I think I see what you mean. I do like the pose though, and the whole...I want to say shot, but it's not a photo or movie.
Maybe something with colors that contrast more sharply. Something that will really stand out on a shelf among other comics. I'd almost say dark blues and blacks with some sharp whites, but that's just me.

frankly, I think you're being a bit too picky. you should at least include this somewhere in the book, you could use it for a table of contents page or something.
