Done for our painting class's final assignment... Well not really because the assignment was supposed to have us paint a cartoon anthropomorphic character in a cartoon styled background.... but whatever... Pretty much inspired by whatever sci-fi that goes around these days.
Anywho, I just wanted to use the new brushes I've recently got and do something for fun, started as a random doodle in class, and I just went on to refine it from there. Originally the characters were gonna jump from 10 feet above the ground... but why jump anywhere when you can jump... FROM SPACE?!??? I want to see the Virgin company make this a luxury sport one day....
Done in Photoshop CS, reference used only for the planetary background

Great detail and shading on this. I especially love how the foreground character has a blurred look allowing you to emphasize the background.
