Koimonogatari: Chapter 2 [KYOxTOSHIYA]
The next morning Toshiya got up almost two hours before his alarm clock went off. For the first 30 minutes he just laid in his bed, staring at the ceiling. He turned to his side and grabbed the pillow next to him, burying his face in it, trying to go back to sleep, with no such luck.
He got out of bed and lazily got in the shower. He let the warm water pour down his chest and back, running his fingers through his hair. He lathered his hands with soap and washed his hair, face, and body. After washing the remaining soap off of himself, he turned off the water, dried himself off, got dressed, and did his hair. But with having so much time on his hands, he decided to make muffins for his bandmates. He knew they were Kyo’s favorite and knowing that made it worth the trouble. He would do anything to see his smile again. He turned on some music while he waited for the muffins to bake and did spare chores he had been putting off. Once they were done, he called for a cab and went to the company.
The ride over seemed to drag on forever. He was so excited to see Kyo he could hardly contain himself. When he strolled into the company, whistling a happy tune, carrying the muffins in one hand and his bass in the other, he walked down the hall to the band room and heard excited whispering. He walked quieter and stopped whistling, trying to make out who was talking. It was Shinya, teasing Kyo about something. He peeked around the corner and saw Kyo, giggling and smiling. His heart pounded in his chest as he smiled to himself. Then he took a deep breath and glided into the room holding up the muffins, offering them to anyone who wanted them. Kyo had awkwardly cleared his throat and took one.
“Arigato.” He said with a mouthful of muffin as he took a second one.
“Your welcome.” Toshiya responded cheerfully.
They heard loud footsteps outside of the band room and Toshiya set the tin of muffins on a nearby table.
“So are we gonna just sit here and have a tea party or are we gonna practice?!” Kaoru shouted in a hyper tone. He wasn’t normally this loud. But the others found it funny.
“Ne, Kaoru-San, someone give you coffee this morning or what?” Shinya said, making a rim-shot on his drum set, laughing.
“Ha-ha, very funny.” Kaoru said sarcastically.
Another band member was heard coming down the hallway and everyone turned to see who. Die walked in and smiled at everyone, setting his guitar case on a chair. There was a short pause after.
“C’mon lets go we don’t have much time till we start touring again and we haven’t been practicing as often as we should. You wanna disappoint our fans?!” Die looked around at the motionless band members, opening his guitar case.
“Hai, let’s go, we’ve gotten too lazy.” Kyo nodded in agreement.
They hooked up their instruments and started.
After about 30 minutes of practicing, Kyo took off his shirt and put it on a nearby chair. This wasn’t helping Toshiya. He started playing out of tune and off beat. Shinya saw what had gone on and started giggling. The other band members looked up to see what had caused the interruption but didn’t care enough to stop and ask. Kaoru was eyeing Shinya suspiciously. He put his head down, unable to stop laughing at the situation, and kept drumming. But Toshiya couldn’t seem to keep his eyes from Kyo. He looked around nervously, wondering if anyone else noticed him gawking. He looked to the back of the room and saw Shinya winking at him and smiling. Dammit! He swore under his breath. Well, there’s no sense in hiding it now. If Shinya knows then Kyo certainly does. He remembered the teasing and giggling before he walk in this morning. Yeah…He definitely knows. He took a deep breath and got back up to speed with the rest of the band.
After a few hours when practice was over and everyone had left, Kyo was getting water from a vending machine when Toshiya tapped him on the shoulder.
“Ah, Toshii-Chan!” He turned around, looking up at the tall man in front of him. “What’s up?” He raised his eyebrows and took a sip of water.
Toshiya wondered if he should ask Kyo to hang out or if it would be too awkward considering the wrestling incident the night before. He thought for a moment until Kyo urged him to ‘spit it out’ and decided to ask.
“Hey, erm…I was wondering if maybe you—“
“So sorry to interrupt but before I chicken out, do you want to come over tonight?” Kyo hid his face behind his water bottle.
Toshiya was too shocked to respond at first, panicked, and nodded his head aggressively. Kyo’s face lit up, making his heart race. He smiled widely and nodded again.
“So what did you want to tell me?” Kyo looked up at him with big eyes, lowering the water bottle.
“Oh…It was nothing.” He smiled.
“Okay…” Kyo sighed walking over to his shirt to put it on.
He shook out his hair and packed up his things.
“See you later.” He said with a smile, patting Toshiya’s head as he walked out.
“See you.” He smiled back and waved.
He watched Kyo walk out of the room and drew in a deep breath, blowing the hair out of his eyes. He packed up his bass and the empty tin from breakfast, and left.
He rushed home to wash the dishes and take a shower before he went to Kyo’s but got sidetracked with deciding what to wear. He rummaged through his drawers trying to find something with no luck. He searched his closet and found a pair of pants to wear but it still didn’t solve his shirt problem. He turned around to look for a shirt to find clothes scattered messily across his room. Great. Now it’s going to take me twice as long to find something to wear in all this. He poked through piles of different colors, styles and lengths until he found the perfect shirt. He held it up in front of himself, proud of what he had found, and set it on his bed. He got in the shower and washed off all of the sweat from his body and hair and got out. By then he was rushing around his house trying to get ready on time, but it seemed like the odds were against him. He ran his arm into a doorknob in his hurry and started bruising almost immediately. Oh good one dumbass. How’re you supposed to look good with a big ass bruise on your arm? He swore under his breath and kept going. He couldn’t let a bruise make him late, no madder what. He threw on his clothes and ran out the door.
