This is a picture I drew on my tablet of my idol, Marjane Satrapi, a graphic novelist from Tehran, the capital of Iran. I first read her autobiography in my school library last year and her work changed me completely. She lived through a war and a revolution, her uncle was executed under the new regime after the Shah and she withstood the prejudices of Europe during the Iran-Iraq War in the 1980s. I now have a copy of her book and of the film made of the book. She inspired me and made me far less ignorant of the culture and history of Iran.
I know my picture of her isn't very good but I wanted to bring her to the attention of other artists.
