Doodle of our friend, Mr. Makarios...in a badly-decorated hotel on Ceres, shortly before becoming acquainted with the rest of our party.

I added some hydraulics to his shoulder. (Well...to his armpit, I guess.) And I drew his arm slightly different than normal. I'm trying really hard to make it really come across as this artificially, grossly disproportionate, and very dead thing that's inextricably strapped to him. It should move in a limp way, rather than having that way of supporting itself and moving subconsciously, like we actually do with normal limbs.

That thing in his hand is, uh...something of a deep-future syringe. Sticking a needle in your skin is scary and invasive, so this is an available alternative. Medicine gets pressurized to microscopically tiny particles that get forced through the skin and are absorbed directly into the bloodstream. No need to find a major blood vessel. It doesn't really hurt; it's like getting a light slap. Anyway, it leaves a little red welt on the skin...like a hickey. Appropriate junkie slang follows in kind.

...Oh, James, you will end up dead in a bathroom somewhere, someday, won't you?

(Let us all thank Pandaman for giving this a title. Thank you, Pat!)

Nice pose and expression, the detail is great.

Sana Says:

wow, he really looks strung out. I like the presence of all the little red welts.

Nanook Says:

"There's a new kind of drug out on the street, that the body hasn't been able to develop a resistance to yet. It's called mechanics...[...] The high passes, the mechanics remain."

Do tell me that you're reading Transmetropolitian.
If you aren't, I'm sure you'd love it.

Hideto Love Says:

My mom has a scar on her arm from when she was little, when she got her polio vaccination. This totally reminded me of that
