Character Reference Sheet 5 - Keena

KEENA

Keena is the main protagonist in 'Bell the Cat'. I won't hide it, I love Keena, if not only for the fact that she is my first female character. But, she is also strong, brave and fairly smart. She has a stubborn streak, yet she is friendly, but also shy at times. She's 15 years old.

Keena has long orange wavy hair and big bright purple eyes. Her high school uniform is a deep red with a gold trim around the blazer, a pleated skirt and a stripped tie in the same colours. For her F.L.I.G.H.T. trainning uniform she wears a moss green loose top, with a brown belt around the middle to attach medicinal herbs, a knife pouch etc., brown shorts and she prefers long brown boots. She wears a protective gauntlet, chest-plate and shoulder piece all in silver. Her weapon of choice is a long sword. She also carries a bow and arrows, while skilled with it she prefers close combat. Her clothing will change once again after her trainning is completed, but I haven't decided on the final design though.

Before being recruited Keena was a member of her school's student council and track and field team. She had good grades and was aiming to be a politician.

Small piece of trivia - Keena is a name of Celtic/Gaelic origin, meaning brave.

Next up are the characters for the story I am currently in the process of developing. Which is loosely, and I mean VERY loosely based on some of the events, changes and lessons I went through in my adolescent and early adult years. I've been working with the title, 'Bell the Cat'.

The story is set in the not too distant future, where an average school student is attacked by a demon. Due to her newfound ability to see these creatures, she is recruited by a demon hunting group known as F.L.I.G.H.T. (the Federation for the Liquidation of iner-Galactic Herds Taskforce).

It follows the student through her times, trying to fit in, learn new skills, control her abilities, fall in love and rebelling against the system.

I am very pleased with how this story is developing, the characters and settings have become incredibly vivid and I have plotted out several arcs so far. I just need to sit down and write it.
