First off, text should have a speech bubble or text-box of some sort; text on a moving background is a major no-no. It's hard to read otherwise.
Normal punching and kicking have special effects too, you know; it'll give them that oomph. On that same note, try not to use the same punch/kick animation more than two or three times in a row.
In contrast: holy hell do the other effects get abused. I can understand the love for guilty gear special effects and whatnot, but please tone it down a tad. I see a huge variety that shouldn't mix together. It's as if you just dump whatever cool effects you could find.
Generally, beams come from a focal point, what's with the "triple beam" coming from nowhere? It doesn't make much sense really, I mean, even having balls of energy float in the air THEN fire would at least rationalize it. Beams with both "ends" off-camera are just as bad.
I believe that you're dedicated and I certainly believe you have even more potential. You certainly seem to have the hang of most of it, but there's still more you can do to refine your flashes. These are just my view/suggestions which I hope you find helpful. Good luck on your next works!

how are you doing efects and still can see the character?
Stick Man Animator Says:
Hey man, it's pretty good, but try not to use too much effects man! Using too much can make it bad.
Also, use some sound effects! Even if there was a simple music it would have been better.
And, add a pre-loader! Even if it was from Newgrounds.

AWESOME!
I love how you put more spikes on sonic and his friends and added at least 1,000 different explosion animations in a single frame.
Really fucking original.
