A small pup rests in heavenly slumber. Shiranui, the legend, has descended to the pup. Her spirit flows from a paw through the baby wolf's veins. A howl to the wind, calling upon all celestial strength to give everything she has to the pup....
The markings of the gods are written on its snow white fur...
Shiranui fades away... leaving the pup to rest, and when she awakes... she will find herself empowered with the celestial gift bestowed upon her from heaven... her new name, Amaterasu.

I've actually written a story about such. Except instead of Shiranui passing her power to Amaterasu, it's when Amaterasu passes her power on to another.
