Someone PLEASE notice this.

(Yes, this was made in Flash 8 PRO, NOT Illustrator!)

I worked my tail off and I entered it into a contest where it didn't even place... *cries* Oh well. At least SA might still enjoy it! Now for an explanation of the picture process.

I started with the picture for Apple's desktop background for HD displays. Then, I imported the image into Flash and individually made every single line you see. Then, I custom made thousands of gradients and solid colour swatches to fill the windows and building areas. This picture took me about 24 hours in total to complete. Hardest thing I've EVER done but it turned out wonderfully.

Go here if you want to see the huge version. THE DETAIL IS AMAZING!!!

The title says it all.

Beautiful. Just beautiful.
The time and effort is clearly shown in this piece.
The reflections are so well done, I thought it was a photo at first.
And to think this was all done in Flash.

You have great patience my friend.
Kudos

Holy crap, man. So much detail in every optical bite. All of the reflections, lights, even the way-far-just-in-front-of-those-mountains-over-there buildings. This is fantastic!

Nyleika42 Says:

Wow... such detail...

Aidda Says:

Those are really cool designs for buildings. I wish we had something cool like that in real life.

I can't remember the last time I've seen vector art so gorgeous before.

But dear god

This is probably the best vectoring I've seen in a long time.

Jealousy

My guess as to why it didn't place in the contest is the simple fact that it's unoriginal. :<

Undoubtedly a lot of time went into this, but originality as well as final outcome is what matters I think. (though I'm unsure of what contest rules there were/what the contest was for)

For the tools used, I'd say that you did pretty damn good. Tracing takes away from it some, but that doesn't change the fact that it's well done. I actually prefer it to the original. I won't rate up since it is unoriginal/traced, but I won't vote down since you put time and effort into it. (and to a good outcome) Well done, but next time do an original piece. Surely you can do just as good!

This is amazing.

The point is you put your heart into making it. Congratulations on creating such a lovely piece <3 I especially like that you understand that seemingly straight gradients can be made from blobs of colour. Well done for all your hard work.

That's amazing :D
I love the detail in this one, great job!
