Tech: ...and apparently your countryfolk are realising metaphor as a way of making ends meet
JoJo: Eh?
Tech: people here merely joke about the banks wanting blood, but what i'm reading here says that some folk on your side of the pond are being paid to donate blood, as well as what i'll refer to as "combinable DNA elements"
JoJo: Oh...Yeah. That isn't something new, actually, but it's generally been the realm of the professionally unemployed and of university students.
Tech: but when i see a line saying "$25 for the first visit, and $40-$50 for each subsequent visit in the same week" i start to worry
here, the method of choice is one that's also mentioned in the same story: medical experimentation
i.e. "we have experimental drugs, who wants to try some?"
JoJo: *Nod nod*
Tech: ...and my associative brain is offering up this now: "How much better off would Arrio have been if he'd just volunteered to be part of the experimental group that determined all the drugs James is on were safe to use?"
JoJo: XD
Tech: not to mention being able to say "Oi, iz cuzza me they know tha' stuff'z safe t' use on ya..."
JoJo: Happy thought...
Tech: somewhat disturbing as well
JoJo: Ohhhhhh, yes.
Tech: because it might mean that arrio's STD count would instead be the number of different foreign compounds they could identify by dropping his blood through a mass spectrometer?
JoJo: And no one should be able to make a face THAT happy under such circumstances. *starts sketching*
Tech: i'm getting that "what have I unleashed this time?" vibe again :P
JoJo: Yes, I'm blaming this one on you.
Tech: good, good...
JoJo: I'm gonna be banned from art forever for this.
Tech: bad time to cite your own words about being an illustrator?
