Heartless - Ch .1 - P. 1 - First Day Back...

The first day back...

- September 4th 2006

"God damn it” was the first thing I thought when I woke up this morning, before getting ready for my third year of secondary school. Two days ago I was in Morocco enjoying the sun, the beaches and the beautiful and full-face girls. A day after that I'm back in London buying equipment for school, which I will never use, and some new clothes to wear.

I arrived to school 5 minutes early, something I usually did on the first day back, to catch up with some friends. It seemed like I was the only one with a tan. So 5 minutes later I make my way to registration to sign in and get my new timetable for the year. Looks like I have maths first. I was glad to see I've got Miss Van for the year, she was the best maths teacher around. Miss Van was short for something unpronounceable. She reminded us that it was our SATs year. She made the SATs seem important, we all knew they weren't.
I sat across this boy called Liam, who I didn't like because he acted retarded, and a girl called Amber because I came late and there were no other tables. She was the type of girl who you didn't notice until now. So the lesson went on, we revised some basic algebra to get back in our school minds. I didn't speak to the girl that lesson. We did exchange a few glances at times, it was kind of awkward. So anyway the lesson ended and I had science next. I was glad to know my mate David was in my class, as well as some other friends. Of course we didn't pay any attention to the teacher; we just made fun of each other for the hour. It was a funny lesson, and it was only second period. Break came next. I went to the front cage, where we played football. I wasn't that good at football as a whole but I was great in defense. Playing in school was nothing like playing back on the beach. Then came the all familiar siren, it was the end of break. We never did pay attention it, we just carried on playing. I had French next anyway.

I was finally forced to go. Arriving 5 minutes late, I noticed Amber was in my class. My French teacher, Ms. Thomas, didn’t mind the lateness and just told me to sit near the window. On the other side of the class, to Amber. I dozed off for that lesson, French was boring.
I was woken up by a paper ball to the head. Ahmed had thrown it, and he quickly told me it was the end of the lesson. I couldn’t be bothered for anymore school. Thankfully period 4 went by quickly, and I went to lunch after that. Me and 3 friends decided to go to McDonald’s to eat; we ended up staying there for most of lunch. Then period 5 came, which was D.T. I had Ms. Cripps, she was one of the funniest and child like teachers you could find while at the same time strict. So me and my teacher spent the lesson jabbing each other with insults and the class slowly began to join in. At the end of that lesson I noticed I had actually done some work. I noticed 5 designs in front of me, in my style of drawing.

And that was it, the first day of school. I had a feeling this year would be pretty eventful.

Finally submitted the opening to my story.

It may seem like the story is rushed but I'm just trying to open it.

Influenced by events in my life, a dream I had and the album 808s & Heartbreak.

Chapter 1, Page 1.
