-THIS MANGA IS READ LIKE A TRADITIONAL MANGA, FROM RIGHT TO LEFT-

When I was developing the initial story and how magic worked, one thing I had to do was develop how the elements worked. There are some games out there that have TONS of elements. To give you an idea, along with the basic four, there was ice, lightning, a light and a dark, along with who knows what else. While I liked more elements, I didn't like having to deal with the strengths and weaknesses of them all. Instead, I did this:

The four main elements are Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth. As can be a bit obvious, Water beats Fire. Fire, meanwhile, beats Earth. Earth then beats Wind, leaving Wind to beat Water. The idea was simple: Water extinguishes Fire, Fire scorches Earth, Earth can block Wind, and Wind can push Water around like a toy.

Further in we have sub-elements. Lightning and Ice are found here. Sub-elements are basically areas of magic that are usually derived from one element and have another mixed in. Lightning, for instance, is Wind and Fire. Ice is Wind and Water. Other sub-elements would be crossovers like this as well.

Now we reach what I've chosen to call conflicting elements. Light and Shadow. Simply put, both elements are both strong against and weak against the other. A Light spell used on a Shadow affinity being would be more powerful than normal, and a Shadow spell on a Light affinity being would be the same. When the powers conflict, they equalize each other out.

I then created a sort of top-tier element, though that element isn't used all too much, if at all, in the story. There's only one person in the story with the capability to use it, and I'm keeping that a secret.
