And now we finally get some form of real action, though it doesn't last long. In fact, the only reason for this swarm of fire lizards is so I can introduce magic and spells into the story in the next few pages!
In the story, magic is a complicated subject. It's almost like a science. There are so many branches to it and so much to know. In the story, magic is often used to aide science too! This is why Cirana develops magical theorems and then tries to test them.
I've been particularly proud with how it turns out, since I never wanted magic to be some mystical unknown force. I wanted there to be people who try to understand it, who try to make sense of it, much like how science is treated. It then helps me bridge the gap between the two.
