“Kiku” = Japanese for “Chrysanthemum.” In Japanese kimono, chrysanthemum are a flower which adorn kimono worn in fall. A type of chrysanthemum is also the Imperial Family’s symbol and appears on their seal.
This was painted entirely with watercolors- on vellum! I had some vellum laying around, and I decided to try painting on it. The results were awesome, and the translucency of the vellum means that I’m going to have fun making window adornments.
