Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain.
A commander during the American Civil War who led a bayonet charge. He was a professor of rhetoric before joining the army and spoke an ungodly amount of languages. His experience as a professor allowed him to give many a moving speeches to those under his command. Quite possibly one of my favourite historical figures.
