My friend Jim McGough called me up one day and told me he admired my artistic skills and had an idea for an art project and wanted me to help him out. His idea was to use wax and melt layer on layer to created a 3D image, and the image of course would be something I would draw. Well, long story short, the wax was IMPOSSIBLE to work with, so we ended up using my prisma markers and whatever paints and supplies he had around the house. sho' nuff, I had art block that day and couldn't draw anything, when I remember my old char merfox (species, rather.
Click here to see my first drawing of a Merfox) So, I drew one o' those all elegant style, and then we o' course had an idea to do an ocean-y background and yadda yadda you get the picture. We used the wax, then, so create a thin layer over it and carve through around the edges to make a sort of spikey frame. I, being the blonde I am, ended up melting the damn thing too much so it kinda smeared in a way we didn't want to, but I'm still satisfied with the overall product.
