That's How It Goes

Lies and truths aren't always black and white
The general area of life is gray
So hard to choose between heart and mind
Losing yourself in the sands of time
Childhood is gone so quickly
Nothing but memories remind you of
The innocence that was once there
In your simple mind of wrong and right
Right or left, up and down, black and white
Now we've got so many shades of gray
With such interesting and frightening hues
It's hard not to lose yourself within
The lies and truths and judgments
In this world of skeptics and believers
Scientists and little kids
Teachers and the imagination within
Beliefs are crushed and start anew
So little time and so much to do
Life has never been simple
But sometimes you wish that you
Could believe it is again for one last time
Pretend that you know wrong from right
Be able to easily choose between soul and mind
Forget about the sands of time
And just be able to see only black and white
No gray shading to cover your eyes
No blurred lines to conceal the lies
But life isn't fair (learn this too soon)
And you can't grow down (only up)
You can only go ahead from here (gray)

Here we go again, stumbling through life and just trying to hold on to anything to remind us that we're human

This is sad...but it's really good too
