The eyes give the painting loads more emotion, the mix of the scared/alert eyes and the dark tones, it makes it sad. I almost feel sorry for that kid.
It's actually kind of cute, 'cos the drawing's a lot bigger than the person, so it makes them seem smaller, and more alone...
