too much text below!!!!
I spare you of reading it, although there are nice details over there
The second fan I did for "Mixed Techniques" art class.
This fan is bigger than the other one and more expensive also! (I bought the other one for 2 € while this one was worth 12'60€!!) The wood which is made from is of better quality, I think is pear tree wood.
The original fan already had the red clothing which fully covered the wood, but was a really awful red so I decided to dye it even more red!
So it now had a bright delightful red.... but the cloth shrinked

hnoes:
I painted the kanji in black out of a stencil I did of it, but I did not want to put any more futile deco,
I wanted to keep it simple and elegant, worth of a noble man or an elegant woman.
But the kanji alone was quite poor, so I decided to play with the "ribs" of it.
I wanted to mount some ribs over the cloth but they were a bit messed where the glue had been, so I dyed 'em black with indian ink and glued 'em back all where they belonged.
As the cloth had shrinked, I no longer had enough if I put it covering the tops of the ribs, so I decided to cover the ribs for the lowest part (which was possible to be done and the cloth was enough that way) and keep the tips of the ribs uncut.
that gives the fan an air of oriental umbrella.
The kanji on the fan is the one for "Scorpion".
I did this fan as a birthday present for a friend of mine but he still hasn't stopped by, and I could not give it to him, but the fan is here waiting for him.
I did him a red and black fan with the "scorpion" kanji not because he was born under that astrological sign, but 'cause he plays a roleplay card game named "Legend of the Five Rings", a game based on japanese feudal era, and he is a member of the Scorpion Clan.
