This is Saddy McSad, the Very Sad Clown. As you can tell, he's very sad.

This was a character I designed and modelled for my CGI module, which we also had to rig and animate.
Unfortunately, our tutor apparently didn't get round to teaching us how to rig things without all the non-associated parts getting messed up (eg. right shoe stretches when i move left leg) or with the skeleton not attaching to the desired parts at all.
So I lazily followed up with this bizarre little animation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuD5b1ZrBA4
When I'm less busy and more well informed, I might try doing a proper rig of something.

Tyokio Says:

Rigging is pretty tough in maya, when you get to stuff like controllers and IKs, blend shapes, custom menus etc it gets pretty complex.

also that is a pretty weird animation there.

Skifle Says:

Oh golly happiness :3

SheenaXZelos Says:

Awww D: Saddy McSad looks so sad :( He's cute though :)
We're doing character modeling and rigging this term so I'll learn all that soon enough xD

Rogerregorroger Says:

hmm, I'm not sure, but he looks kind of sad.
Must have been me.

gofthick Says:

Aint physique a bitch?

The easiest way to stop additional verts from catching is to select them in the vertex drop down (on the physique stack) and select pretty much anything in the vicinity that shouldn't be affected by the part you're working with (such as the foot). Hit remove from link and voila!

gofthick Says:

Just realised you're using Maya. Ignore my useless suggestions for help.
