-:Love Seems So Far - Chapter 2:-

Chapter 2. Found

Long months past. More and more Krilos of Northern Germany were lessening. The number of Nebos were increasing and now there was a population of 20 Rebel-Nebos per city. Hak and Vira really had been accomplishing their goals and it was becoming clear that they were not about to give up now. Though now it was difficult. As humans had been migrating into Krilo territory, the Nebos have been less tempted to coax out the Krilos. Therefore allowing them to pick back up in numbers, and send for reinforcements.
"What a waste of time. How is it a good thing for Benzin says it's a great idea to stake-out the Nebos' home base? They haven't left in over a week. And I'm in need of some human crushin' get the picture?" The female Krilo looked over at her partners. "Reno! Maladie! You guys even listening?"
Maladie was startled. Once again the black haired android caught himself thinking of Hak, "Perhaps. But there are fewer of us than before, and as such, I think human killing is unwise until our numbers are greater."
"Just th’answer I'd ‘spect from you, leader-boy. S'like there be a new breed of Krilo, now. Rebel-Krilos." Reno flicked a toothpick from his mouth. And looked over at Maladie in his current daze. "Whatchu thinkin' 'bout so hard, anyway, Mal? Can't be Nacht Zeit!"
At his statement, Nacht Zeit laughed, hysterically. "HA! Good luck making him think about ANY chicks. He always ignores the girls that he's paired up with! Benzin thinks he's gay!"
"Its nothing Reno." He shot the other a glare. Several times he had passed by the place where Hak was at work, in his view, slowly killing the Krilos one by one. Comrades he was once friendly with were now to be avoided.
"Hey-hey-hey-HEY! There's a couple of rebels! And a human! That's just our luck! Three birds with one rifel!" Nacht Zeit pulled her rifel from the ground and aimed it. She focused on them. "A small boy. The human anyways."
Before he even knew what was happening, Maladie wrestled away the gun from Nacht. Shocked with himself, he dropped it, and backed away rather slowly from the group. Before he met Hak....stuff like this would've never happened...and YET...
"What's into ya, leader-boy? Yer gonna let'em get away?" Reno questioned Maladie.
Maladie thought quickly, "I'll handle them when the night falls...Harder to see, fewer witnesses to kill." He had to find Hak...
Reno shrugged and looked over and NZ, who was tapping her fingers and staring off at the rebels witht he human. "Here that, psycho-chick? Ya lost yer game!"
"Oh shut up!" She waved her arm in frustration, and went back to tapping her fingers on the cold ground.
Maladie sighed and rubbed his head. He looked out, down at the street below. His sight was caught by a blonde haired petite Rebel walking alone. "Take a look at that number..."
Reno turn his head and froze. "HOT DAMN!" He shouted.
Nacht Zeit was slightly distracted, but as she turned to look, she realized she knew this Rebel. It was one of her closest friends that he been injected many years ago. She growled in her throat. Her pale red eyes glared at the ground. Her best friend. The one she loved.
"Damn fucking Nebos." With that, she stood up and left as quickly and calmly as she possibly could, anger overwhelming her, as her past begins to catch up with her.
Maladie looked up as NZ left. Turning to Reno, "What's up with her?" He asked. He had only come to know NZ in the last couple of years or so.
The blonde did not bother to look up at the shout, although she did giggle a little bit. She was a Rebel, and she preferred to walk the streets alone.
Reno shrugged. "Who knows. Chicks do'at."
A distant voice. "Wait, Vira, don't move! I have to go talk to Jewel!" The voice was from none other than Hak. She ran up to Jewel. Her uniform was torn and tattered, and new wounds were visible on her arms and sides. She had been many battles. "Hey Jewel!" She stopped about 3 feet from her. "I haven't seen you in a few months! Where've you been hiding?"
Jewel smiled, "A few towns north of here. Their Krilo infestation was really bad, but now its under control." She looked around, a sense of nostalgia entering her. It was here where she was last a Krilo.
Maladie's attention shifted to Hak, she was so often on his mind, it was hard to ignore her once she came on the scene.
"Yeah I heard about that. Did you do that?" She looked behind her as her brother walked up. "Hey Vira."
Vira smiled to Jewel. It was a rare occasion to run into Rebel-Nebos that were not stationed in their area. "Just came to say hi. I hope you're fairing well."
"I had help." She may have preferred to walk alone, but to work a Krilo infestation alone was murder. "Its good to be back here..."
Vira grinned. "Would you like to come back with us? We have a few more Krilos to reprogram."
"Maybe." She crossed her arms, looking around, "How have you guys been doing?"
Hak felt eyes on her. But she couldn't pin-point where it was coming from. She looked around her, but saw nothing. Curiousity filled her systems as she began to wander off away from the others, alone. In her mind, she knew it was a bad idea, bt she always kept some viles of antiviruses handy, as a last resort.
Vira looked over his shoulder at his sister, and briefly thought about following her, but her expression before made him shrug it off. He looked at Jewel. "We've been ok."
Maladie moved away from the window the moment Hak disappeared. He would not have her coming across the Krilo's hide out. No way, no how. He grabbed a gun, just in case. Jewel's gaze flickered over to the departing Hak before going back to Vira, "I will be in town for a little while...You know...just taking a bit of a break..."
"I understand." Vira nodded. "Well, I'll leave you be. You know where we are if you need some company." He walked over to the bodies of Krilos he and Hak had found and carried them off. He knew his sister would be back safely. This was not the first time she'd wandered away from him.---
Hak looked over her shoulder. She was now in a part of the city she didn't know very well and it made her feel very uneasy. She saw the painted markings of the Krilos all over the buildings. Her systems remained cool, but she was mentally unstable as she continued. But.

She was lost.

Maladie moved quickly in the shadows as Hak passed through Krilo territory. He kept the gun close to him. Even though she was Hak and though she had somehow effortlessly occupied his thoughts, she was the enemy...and a murderer.
Hak ceased her movements through the city. Her eyes looked up to the red sky of the evening. It was nearing the darkness of the city and she wan no where close to her home base. She took a seat against a cold building to rest. She would try to head back at daybreak.
He came up from behind her, "You shouldn't be here. It isn't safe. Especially for you." The gun was at his side. There was a distinct hatred in his voice, as other nameless Krilo began to rouse.
Hak didn't recognize him anymore from his battle scars and hair so messy. She abruptly stood up and blindly ran from him. Fear over came her for the first time in months. She was afraid for her life.
"WAIT! Its me Maladie!" He ran after her. The fool, he thought, she was running further into Krilo territory.
She was unable to hear him anymore, deafened by her own fear. She was running more and more into Krilo territory. As of now, she had no intentions of stopping.
He quickened his pace, and he made an attempt to tackle her, dropping his gun. "Its me Maladie!" He yelled. Nameless shadows were moving toward the Nebo. He had to get her out of here, and soon...although he did not know why.
Hak was suddenly pulled into the arms of Reno. He grinned mischievously at her. "Lookie! I caught'er, Mal! Whatchu want me to do wit'er?"
Hak struggled to reach the viles of anitviruses in the clutches of her captor. She was in fear of her life, more than ever now, but she froze. Mal? Could he have meant.... She looked to the eyes of the Krilo that was running after her. It was him.--
It was Maladie. But why was he chasing her? Would he really take her life?
His eyes, while the same reddish color of hot coals, surveyed her emotionlessly. "Give her to me Reno....I'll see to her." He only intended to drag her into Nebo territory and dump here there with a warning....
Reno shrugged. "She's yours leader-boy. But only cause she aint that pretteh." He threw her at him. "I guess I can trust ya to take care-a her. I seen ya at work." He turned to leave but noticed Maladie's gun a few yards behind. "Why be yer gun way over ther?"
His voice was cold, "I dropped it. It will not happen again the pursuit of an enemy." He caught Hak with ease, and keeping a hold of her, turned on one heel and grabbed the gun with a free hand. As soon as they were out of earshot of other Krilo, he murmured, "You're lucky I've been watching you. You might not be so lucky next time."
"You're not going to hurt me.. are you?" Her voice was soft and filled with fear.
He did not answer her question, merely looking at her with distaste. "You are one...Well...Since we met...I couldn't get you out of my mind. Sometimes with hatred for your genocide attempt on my people, sometimes with curiousity." He paused near Nebo territory.
"It'll be unwise for you to wander into Krilo territory alone. Many many Krilo are after your head. Yours and that male robot that accompanies you."
"My brother."
"Your brother then."
When they reached the border between the two territories, he shoved her roughly into the Nebo side, and fired the gun at her feet. "Heed my warning Hak...."
Hak looked at him. "You're different from the other Krilos. You're a surviver, Maladie. I don't want you to die."
"I don't want to die either. But its going to happen." He met her gaze, ruby into sapphire, fire into water.
"Not as soon as you would think." She replied without realizing it was aloud.
He heard her, but did not reply to it, merely heading back into his home territory. He would meet her again, that was for sure.
