Under Argon's suggestion.. I did some "art just for me" today. This was the result... and it's helped me to get back into the feel of drawing again, as well as just being able to enjoy it. Trying to shape my style some too... looking for a sort of were-creature feel to my male canines.
You always see mother's holding their infants... why shouldn't fathers get in more on the action? So, with that idea in thought, I ended up drawing Rono. He's holding his tiny newborn son against his chest, keeping him warm and protected as the first snowfall of the season makes its presence known. The background is abstract on purpose, done with acryllic, and then the rest with prismacolor.
Was a lot of fun flicking the paintbrush to make the snowflakes. Messy.. but fun.

Oh I do like it! He looks so proud and warrior-like, but still has that 'mushy' look men get when they hold their babies.

Oh, that's wonderful. I totally agree, fathers deserve more recognition...this is a really fabulous piece. I like the cloth around the baby, and the cloth around the father, as well. It drapes well and looks very realistic.
And I love the background.
