Kyodai Eggman Robo

And it's done.

My goal was to create the feel of Eggman starring in a classic mecha anime. The name "Kyodai Eggman Robo" is actually Sega's official name for the final boss of Sonic and Knuckles, though I opted for something closer to the Sonic 2 design. The name just sounded like some bombastic mecha anime starring Eggman, and it alone was a lot of the inspiration for this.

In this universe, Eggman and his assistant Snively are two lone fighters for justice against the tyrannical Dark Lord Sonic. Sera would be Eggman's eventual love interest, if this hypothetical idea ever gets turned into a comic series.

Eggman's enjoying a glass of wine as a reference to a certain irresponsible captain, though Snively seems slightly irked by this.

I have to say I'm truly proud of this. I actually took my time on this work, and feel this is one of my better drawings.

And yeah, I know there's some perspective issues with the background. For now, just accept that the city's buildings are positioned oddly in relation to one another. Perhaps all the mech fighting is to blame, by knocking structures around. See what I did there? I turned my artistic mistakes into a story element; Truly the sign of a cheap writer and artist! (I'll get better at backgrounds eventually, I promise. I'm still proud of this piece as a whole though.)
