Where Ideas come from, Chapter 1

Where ideas grow
Chapter 1

“I need an idea, but where can I find one?” Said the boy to the information booth at the mall.
“How would I know?” Said the woman at the information booth.
“Well this IS the Information booth, I was expecting information” said the boy.
“You can find information here, but only information related to the MALL” said the woman, “Next”, and the boy was bumped out of line but person behind him.

The boy thought and thought, “Where can I find an idea?” and just then! He got an Idea! And before it could escape him he grabbed it, but it was his own idea on how to find an idea, and it was to follow the idea back to where it came from, so he let go of the idea and chased after it as it flew away.

The idea flew fast, fluttering away, it first flew out of the mall, then over the walls of the suburbs, he had to quickly climb over the wall into the forest outside to keep going after it, the idea flew through the forest weaving through vines and trees, the boy could barely keep up.

The idea got outside the forest and into a meadow of flowers, the boy got distracted by this sight he’d never seen, and lost sight of the idea, “Gosh darn it, I lost the idea” said the boy. But at his feet he found a parchment of paper, “Outskirts of Suburbia map?” the boy read out loud, and low and behold, it was a map of the area outside the suburbs. The boy looked through the areas on the map “These are all such odd names” he thought, he finally found an area on the map that seemed like it was where Ideas came from, and he found where he was, “So, I’m at the meadow of beauty, and I need to get to where ideas come from, so I need to go through there, and over there…” he mumbled as he walked forward slowly, he the rolled up the map and began walking in the direction he believed to be the right one.

It wasn’t long before he reached a split in the path he as forming.

“Academics? Sports? Factory working? Management? Such odd names for paths, I think I’ll follow this one,” he began walk on the path he chose when a Crow landed on the fork and yelled “Stop! That’s the wrong path! Head towards Academics! That’s where you want to go!” then another crow appeared “don’t listen to him, go towards Sports! That’s the only good path” a rather pessimistic crow screamed “They all head towards factory working anyways, just head that way” And then a large vulture swooped down scaring away the other crows “No, aim big, go to management” said the vulture, then more vultures swooped down “BECOME A SALESMAN” “BECOME A MANAGER” “BECOME A TEACHER, IT’S LIKE ALL THE OTHER PATHS COMBINED!!!” they all yelled and yelled and yelled, The boy couldn’t take it so he ran off the fork and headed off in a random direction, when he finally escaped the crows and vultures, he looked at his map and noticed that fork and those paths weren’t even on it, “Well I don’t need those paths others have made, I’ll just make my own path” and so he did, he looked at where he thought looked like a good way to go, and he headed in that direction.

The boy looked back behind him and noticed he had gone so far he couldn’t even see Suburbia anymore, but he wanted to see more of the outskirts and find the place where Ideas come from.

Yeah yeah I made this for Creative writing, but really it was my own idea and creative writing in my school is more like just getting constructive criticism from somebody who knows what they're talking about then having to do assignments telling you exactly what to write about and the such.

ANYWAYS, this is kind of like the other side of Writers block, rather then going to defeat writers block, the boy is looking for an idea, plus this is multiple chapters.

And unlike in writers block where fantasy invade reality, this is more like an Alice in wonderland type story where he leaves Suburbia(which is just my name for whatever town it is) and ends up in an entirely different world.

And yes, there is going to be a lot of symbolism in this, along with wordplay and overall fun.
