By Joe, I believe the world is ending. I submitted a pic of... ~dramatic gasp~ ...a HUMAN. -hell freezes over-
You want to know what the ironic part of it is? I got more satisfaction out of creating this piece than I have had with my animal ones. Yes, I know there is a tiger in this one, but the focus is the girl.
The story behind this idea even being conceived in the first place is a strange one. Prepare to delve into the infinite weirdness that is my cerebral cortex. I was in a Barnes and Noble the other day, and for some reason when I walk around a bookstore I get a million scenarios for stories fly through my head. Sometimes I even get tidbits of conversations made up on the spot that could be placed into a novel, if that makes sense. This was one of those scenarios, only it was an idea for a graphic novel. What's weird, though, is that I thought of the title first: 'Tiger and Butterfly'. Then, this image came into my head. For some reason I decided to go with it, and voila, the finished product.
There is no plot behind it yet, and there will probably never be, but it amazes me just how proud I am of this. I wanted this to look like a cover for a graphic novel, and I think it turned out pretty well. I should probably add a little background later, or something. Meh.
Anyway, this was one of those revelation pics, with the revelation being: "Holy shit, why do I draw animals all the time?" No, I'm not going to stop drawing animals. I'm just a little embarrassed that it's been the main focus of my art for such a long time. It passes me off as a mediocre artist who knows nothing about human anatomy and figure, and that has begun to irk me. So, you will start seeing some more hy00munz here, and honestly I don't care if they don't get as much attention as the fluffy animals. I just want to give my gallery variety.
Gyah, that's enough of that rant. Enjoy, and please don't be afraid to critique; I encourage it.

She's so pretty and sad. The tiger is awsome looking.~

Hmm. Maybe there is an underlying meaning behind the title. A tiger is fierce and powerful and perhaps the girl is the butterfly...delicate and pretty?

By jove, I think you may have improved! The girl looks lovely, with all that emotion in her eyes, and the subtle pout. I love that her hair isn't completely white, and has the contrasting cool shading. The tiger looks lovely, too. I love that he's a more subdued color scheme, and thus doesn't steal the image--the focus IS the girl, after all. I love the form of his snout and nose, all crooked and full of personality, and his eye is a thing of beauty. Is it me, or did you overlay a subtle gradation of this image, with a warmer hue at the bottom and a cooler hue at the top? Whatever it is, the effect pleases me.
I don't think you should feel embarrassed for having not drawn humans much. I was once the same way, and I don't find any shame in the fact. Opening up your horizons and learning the human figure does indeed, well, open up many more opportunities, though!

Wow, love the lip and the profile on the tiger, and his nose pad is wonderful. Hahah, yeah, I think it's funny, I was once told by a good friend that there's really a large division from people who draw animals and those that draw people. I have the same issues you do with it; animals are fine, people, I have to really work on. Unlike animals, you can't hide the mistakes or proportions in fur and color- they're just naked little pink-skinned things!
That tiger is wonderfully solid, big, and vibrant.
Critique wise, as long as you are asking, the one thing that somewhat bothers me about the girl is her hair. It might simply be the style that you're going for, but it gives the impression that her features (eyes and eyebrows) are over her hair and not under it her bangs, if that makes sense...
