This is the last thing that I finished in ceramics, I still have a couple of things to finish.
We were suppose to do an African mask. We studied about masks, meanings behind them, and colors. I went and read a couple of books and learned more about the symbols, looked at statues, carvings and such, and lots of masks and other things, I learned more about some traditions and whatnot.

I don't quite remember EXACTLY what the colors symbolize.

Unlike everybody else in the class, I made up my own mask. I wasn't intending it to be a lemur, but it came out like that. Over all the masks, I enjoyed the animal masks the most (I was also the only one that made an animal one). So yeah... And I actually took the mouth from a statue I saw of a magical deity, I thought it was really cool : D

The colors:
Red: Life (my mask is a made up god so yeah)
White: Wisdom (he has to be really smart : D )
Black: Fertility (I'm a girl hurhur)

Like I said I don't remember exactly what they mean but this is what I remember.

The symbol on his head is a moon and star, which means "gentle characteristics" like forgiving and the sort.

I like the general idea but the shape of the mask is a little off beat,
and not in a fun way. Just in the way that takes away from the effect.

That is really cool.
