+Purr+

Agina's gallery is small, but every piece is a delightful foray into colorful fantasy in watercolor, and none more so than +Purr+. Here, the colors literally swirl around the two figures, in complementing hues to their clothing. This is a very nice example, all the way through, of wet-on-dry technique with the paint, achieving some beautiful textures, especially in livening up the background. The elements of flowers, hearts, and an expressive grinning cat are a nice use of repoussoir in the composition; that is, these elements reflect the brackets of the picture frame, and here it is done to a nice effect. The figures, themselves, are drawn with great care and obvious affection, and positively beam with emotions of love. Also, an additional use is made of sharp, dark pencil lines to clarify the image, and Agina has done so with a fine attention to detail. Overall, the piece is simply charm on paper.
