This is the remnants of a piece that my AP Art teacher decided to paint over with white paint because my work hasn't been 'abstract' enough for her. So, after I'd already put about ten hours of labor into this piece, she took a fat brush and whited it all out. Then she had the gall to call me 'brave.'
I didn't want to work on it or change it, because that meant that she was controlling my voice. That she had say over what my art would look like. I will never, ever, ever let somebody take away my voice. I will never be silenced. And I'm tired of meeting people who constantly try to do that. I know what I want. I know who I want to be. I know how I want to achieve my vision. And I can and have had just about everything taken away from me, but they will never take my voice. They will never change my vision. That is mine, and I will never let go of it, for it's the only thing left that is me.

hollywood scenester Says:

Wow, are you serious?
What a dumb bitch.
I'd of bitched her out, or at least called the board head.

That's fuckedd.
Really.
I don't change my art for anyone.

Robber Baron Says:

Yes, but don't you feel you are being childish? After all, you are taking an art class. You are expected to do what the teacher says. If you want to draw or paint what you want - fine. Do it on your own time. Childishly calling out for attention like what you did only makes you seem like a sore loser. A better act of resistance would be to do what she wants and more - make it better than what she expected, better even than what she can do.

Also, it's extremely melodramatic.

Kuri Chan Says:

Thats a load of bull! I would never stand for someone being like that and randomly destroying what I'd worked so hard to create. Teachers are supposed to nurture talent not destroy and diminish it and to be honest thats what your teacher seems to do. I would seriously make a complaint if that was me ><
