Sky Forest- Chapter One (start)
Chapter one
“Drifting away into the clouds…”
It was a warm day, the sun glistening upon the clouds. And a steady cool wind that seemed to cool the thoughts of the day cooling the mind and soul as it passed by. Only the sound of birds singing and the sound of the wind passing the green leaves of the great trees could be heard. At the time I was eleven years old with a large imagination and passion of all things around me and a young mind still waiting to be opened to the world.
I had dark brown hair, and long rectangle face, a smile with lost teeth, yellow skin, and brown eyes that gave people the impression of a young boy, still wondering what he was going to have for dinner. The time was 2005, mid spring, close to my birthday in May. It could not wait for my birthday, and it was one of the most fun days of the year. I always thought about things differently then the other boys and girls at the time. My friends thought of birthdays as being days with presents, cake, and fun for the whole family. I thought of it as being a day to become older, a sign of maturity, a sign of wisdom to enter the mind. Still, I thought of the cake, of presents, but not as much as the number of my age. People will take me more as an older kid, with freedom to do my own stuff and decide my own path in life. It was a school day, just like any other day, nothing different, nothing new, just another day of learning in school, talking to friends and having fun being a kid. My school was not a large school, it only held around 300 students, kindergarten through sixth grade. The school was also tucked in the corner of the town, hidden under the tall trees. Most of the students were from family’s that worked in the many colleges close by. When I would walk to school in the cool mornings, looking up at the trees and the neighbors that would be talking to their friends and children still too young for school play in the yards with their families laughing while they ran about, fathers, grandmothers, mothers chasing them about, thinking about what we will do in class. Most days were like this, so peaceful, happy, and fun. Most of the time I would never think about living somewhere else then here, it seemed like a perfect place to live forever until I left this world. But, there I sat in the classroom thinking about what I would do after school. But being in a class with forth, fifth, and sixth graders, made it hard at some times. I was mocked for being a daydreamer, staring off into space looking like an idiot. Some friends that I had would accept me as being a daydreamer, others would not. Some called me names because of daydreaming and telling them about the Dreams I had last night. How I wished I didn’t tell them about the world that seemed as real as daylight, That is, to me… Mom and Dad did not mind, nor did anyone else that knew who I was. Many times I thought I was going insane, but it turned out that I was thinking the wrong way. My teacher didn’t seem to notice me even, I felt like an outsider, trying to get peoples attention, but seemed as if I was not even there. But still, I went on, still as happy as any child could be, happy about they way things were in life. How they were for me. My family understood my thoughts and actions, my closest friends understood my ways and accepted it, accepted they way I was, and to me, that’s what makes a friend a friend. My Mother had a mellow temper; she was the mother that wanted things done for her, and wavy hair that seemed to flow like the water in the stream. Eyes as brown as the eye can behold, and a smile that could brighten up anyone’s day and a glance, Even with her sharp quick temper, she was loved by everyone she met, and loved back. My father was the playful one, doing things just to give people a little laugh and a smile. His hair was mostly gray, but still had a little brown here and there. Dark skin, and “Cat Eyes”, I always called his eyes this because how they could change colors from blue, green, gray, brown, and yellow. Every color had brown in it though. And a big heart he had for everything around him.
School was over, and my friend John and I were talking about the new comic that we were going to make together. It was the afternoon time of the day, the wind steady and still, the sun sinking behind the horizon behind the trees. An orange blanket of color rained upon the leaves of trees. My friend John and I have been friends since the start of 5th grade, even though I knew him before that; we just started to get to know each other. John was a tall kid with pale skin, very long dirty blonde hair, and a funny tone in his words. I looked up at John and said…
“I will start working on the main characters a little more. They look like they need more work…” I said in a tired voice, John turned to look at me both of us still walking.
“Yeah, they need some work before we can start. When you finish call me up ok?” John said as if he said this for the hundredth time.
“So, when I do get the characters finished, you should type up the storyline right?” I said.
“Eh, we should take a break before we get started.” John said in a worried voice.
My home sat on the corner of 7th street and Indian Hill, a large street that was busy most of the day. The small home was surrounded by shrubs and plants, and had a small old look to it. There was few windows, a tiny sun room in the back, and a ghostly looking tree that sat beside it. I turned into the small path that let to the back door of my home.
“See you later John.” I said.
“See you tomorrow Max.” John said waving goodbye.
~…Time passes…~
There I lay, looking up at the ceiling I my bed thinking about the day, thinking about how it went. Good? I thought to myself. I leaned up to look at the small clock that was on the wall next to my TV. 9:17pm I read, I turned and looked at the dream catcher placed on the small table across the room. With its soft blue color, and 8 beads crossing into the woven web gave me the feeling of peace. Something so small can do such a thing? But with a closer look, it gave you the feeling something was laying inside of it, waiting to be realized by something or someone, just, waiting there. I stared at it until I could no longer by the haunting feeling it gave off once you stare at it for some time… I did not believe the stories that were told about the dream catcher, the stories about how the capture all the bad dreams and how they give you good ones in replacement. It was just a myth to me, nothing more. I rested my head on the soft pillow and shortly after, fell asleep. From the point after that I still cannot remember falling asleep, but what I can remember that there was a feeling of calm, and from the blackest of night, came light as day. A bright light exploded in front of my eyes, then another, unsure what was going on, and still halfway conscious, a started to have a cold sweat, everywhere. It was so great the I could feel it even when I was asleep. Heart racing, worry started to kick in, still unsure what was going on, or what was happening, right in the middle, everything stops, light turns to darkness, and I seem to be awake, I open my eyes, and everything had the back and white color, I get out of bed scared out of my mind. What is going on? I thought in my mind. Why is the color gone? Where am I? Then I look at the bed, and there I lay, sleeping, seeing myself in a peaceful sleep. I look to the dream catcher, and all around it was a glowing light, glowing with such balance. In the center was a blue and white light that was a still as water. I reached down to touch it but the closer I reached out to it the hotter it got, then, a voice as clear as day, spoke from the light…It was the sound of a small girl singing a small love song…
“Hear my quiet prayer…Listen to my quiet voice… Step inside the light… And you will see why I have chosen you…” Said the ghostly voice, echoing through the walls of time there it sang, over and over…
“May the Light guide you…Through the place that I call home… Look inside this light… And you will know why I have chosen you…See My world, through the eyes of another, see the light through the heart that you desire… Hold my hand forever and ever… Since it is the way it shall be forever… See what I have seen, see what you can see, and the world will change to you… This world to me is the only world I know… come and you will see…” Sang the voice.
“Hear my quiet prayer… listen to the voice that calls to you…”
And the song stops as sudden as it started…The quiet voice rang into my mind, a peaceful tone, and a beautiful song…I looked at the Dream catcher. A feeling that someone was behind me rang through out my body. I turned around and there she was…
It was a very small girl, only 3 feet tall, dressed in white, and looked as if she were an angel. Her head was down, so that I could not see her face, she wore a beautiful dress with golden bracelets and a headband toped with a flower made of silver and shone as bright as the sun. The little girl had small feet, small hands, fire red hair, and golden skin, but what was strange, she had no ears like humans did… Instead, she had small “cat like” ears pointed down, in a respectful way. She held out her small hand as if she was going to take me somewhere… I rested mine on top of hers… And she looked up to look at my eyes, and I looked at hers, we both stared at each other for some time. She looked as if she was from some place different from us… Some place you can only dream of…
But her eyes, Red as Fire, as clear as a gem, and with such unbelievable beauty, just looking at them could make anyone fall in love with this little girl…
“So you listened… Thank you…” the girl said, and a blinding light exploded in front of me, and I lost all sense, of who I was before I met the little girl…
