Just an exerpt from my sketch book. Done with a ballpoint pen from work. Like the style I'm shading the bird with, swirly doodles instead of appropriate shading techniques. Getting more and more into realism, just in case you didn't notice ;]

One night I just felt like sketching an animal, so I googled 'hawk' and chose the second choice in the images section. Thinking of doing a shark related one for the next. Or a person - my main inspiration is Gavade, an inspirational member in GFXartist.com. Check it outttt

That's beautiful. It really gives the piece an organic feel, which is totally appropriate to the subject matter.

plus, like, BALLPOINT PEN omg. x___X Mad skills.

nikita Says:

You did that straight in ballpoint pen? I'm going to cry myself to sleep now.
The patterns of its feathers are done so well. You amaze me every time.

squidgy purple blob Says:

Loving that.
Your 'swirly' technique is perfect for the feathers (:
Just awesome, really

that's a great hawk! and done in ballpt. pen too? that means no mistakes were made...at least that what it looks like to me. you've gotten to become a great artist. :)
i can imagine seeing this drawing in a bird book...or an animal physiology book. :) they pay artists to draw diagrams and models.

how are you by the way? i haven't spoken to since summer..so it seems. xD been a bit busy.
