The Search is On
I look in the mirror once more
disappointed to see the same person staring back,
asking me when I will see past this mask I am born with
I am lost for a moment, staring into my own eyes,
forever vortexing into blackness
Reminiscent of my quest void of progress
I seek but one thing
to know, for certain,
what lies beneath
My trance is broken for a second, but that's all it takes,
to shift back to the plane of reality.
I meander down the halls, as if they were my own soul
lost in the unfamiliar territory.
I grow weary, and lie on the aether floor,
gazing into to heavens
The scene above me changes; A shadow passes by in the lonely atmosphere
A shadow of my true form.
I fear it as much as I relish the thought of knowing,
just who I am meant to be, what I am meant to do.
My eyes dart around, searching for a sign
But the shadow is gone, back into hiding
to taunt me for a while more
Elusive and unpredictable.
