Sharing Is Caring
Rabbit hopped unhappily in his cage, occasionally standing on his hind legs and batting at the ceiling, hoping to open the cage door. Unfortunately, Illybrius had locked it so that it could only be opened fromthe outside. Once in awhile, Illybrius would take him out and pet his lush golden fur, gazing down at him in mourn and regret, never speaking.
Are you going to give me away? Rabbit finally broke the heavy silence between them with the telepathic question the next time Illybrius petted him.
If you cannot be loyal to me, what choice do I have? (Apparently Illybrius was still too upset to speak aloud to his pet.) You and I had an understanding, which, I regret to inform you, did not include sharing you.
Rabbit could feel his master's heartbreak. He was surprised.
I thought I was just your pet?
Do you see me sharing my fish with anyone? Aside from that, I'd thought we were friends.
You don't share your friends either?
Illybrius brought his hand down hard on the transformed Viking's rump. You know better than that, he scolded. I adored you, my pet. You were my very own, mine alone. My consolation prize, my sanctuary.
As if coming back to himself, Illybrius quickly shut down his thoguhts. He lifted the rabbit and was about to drop him unceremoniously into his cage, then changed his mind and held him close.
I'm sorry, master and pet thought simultaneously.

It is days later. Rabbit is a human boy again, resentful of his master.
You were my very own, mine alone... You and I had an understanding, which did not include sharing you.
Though Illybrius was unwilling to share his pet, clearly he expects Rabbit to be able to share him.
I'm the one who should be married to you! Rabbit wants to scream, I proposed to you and got blankness for my naswer. Then that demon comes along and--
He stops his internal rant for a moment, remembering that Illybrius had been unaware of the quasi-marital bond until after its occurence.
