So for a while now I've been trying to come up with ways to make Specter... how can I put this? Slightly more original? Less of a recolor? I guess I just wanted to find a way to enhance the character's look in such a way that people wouldn't be so prone to saying "is that Shadow with a cape and a scythe?" So I played around with a few different ideas (making him more anthro-looking, changing up the outfit, etc.), none of which I really liked. It got so bad that, whereas Specter
used to be my primary RPing character, I haven't actually used him in RPing and Sparring for a year plus!
Finally, however, an idea for a revision of Specter came to me. It happened as I was toying around in the [
Male Furry DollMaker] (it's not as weird as it sounds; it's a Flash-based Sonic fan-character maker) trying to make an image that looked
passingly like Specter... when I saw that blue trench-style open overcoat and thought "hey, that's kinda cool". It just spiraled out from there, built on the idea of having Specter's persona and look kind of grow up in the same way I've had to lately (well, the same way it
feels like I have). I then - as is my habit - took the whole shebang into Photoshop, grayscaled it, removed a few undesired bits and pieces, added my own coloration... and then had the absolutely
crazy idea to turn the Shadow-style azure streaks into glowing patterns and runes. Personally, I'm quite pleased with the results!
I've also rehashed his backstory quite a bit, going on the whole "less fan character-y" theme as well as adding in a few crucial elements that I've been wanting to do for a while. I'll post it as a separate submission shortly.
(Also, the scythe was edited in from a piece of Specter art I had commissioned several years back. Don't remember the artist offhand, but if you're the artist and you see this just let me know so I can give you proper credit.)

Hum, I can recognize the doll maker you got this from, but kudos to adding your own design appeal on top. I really like the blue runes-ish effect on the quills you have going on, as well as the coat (even though I now find myself missing his classic cape.
)

Oh Yeah! You didn't just take a doll maker generated character, you edited it! he looks f'n incredible, those effects are perfect. But make sure to put the eyes right above the mouth, it will look a lot better

I like the design, but even though I'm no drawer, the proportions seem a bit weird to me... probably the Dollmakers fault, at any case I like the design as well, though I do miss the older Azure streaks but, hey your character, you can do as you please.
