Technically speaking, the oil would only blow up like that if there were oil fumes. A typical oil would not be able to catch fire. It would simply put out the match or other flame as if it were water. Of course, if we are to assume that Robotnik was just knocked into the oil, he no doubt threw oil particles into the air, so I assume that could work...
Anyway, enough with the physics lesson, this is awesome!
