Black Wings Prologue
The building was completely silent, aside from the gasping for breath, her panic, and the load roaring and screams coming from behind them, as well as the building's alarm blaring. The boy next to her- her adopted brother, running next to her, making sure she didn't fall and trip, of which would allow the monster chasing them to kill her for sure, and then he wouldn't get to his twin, and he'd be all alone, because without his sister, he was just as dead as she would be if she were to lose him at this point. Their parents had abandoned them, disowned their brother in such a disgusting place such as this, a building filled with sadistic minded fools that did nothing but turn people into monsters. They just hoped with all their might that they were not too late...
As they turned the corner from the seemingly never-ending straight corridor, having seemingly lost the monster chasing them, they stopped to catch their breath. "Oh, Shadow, I can't run anymore! I'm not as strong as you!", his sister-- Angel, or so she'd recently changed her name to, from being 'Libby'; just to keep herself safe, as well as them -- whined, panting, and gasping for breath, her Asthma and never-ending illness that has no cure getting the best of her at such a vital moment.
"Stop whining, Angel, we can't do anything at this point but keep running!", he replied softly, keeping in mind that she was extremely fragile, and sometimes sensitive. "We are not all that far off.... just two more turns-- another fifteen feet!", he said, not really into coaxing her to run anymore, or at least, not at the moment. He picked her up, and started running again, turning around the first corner.
