The Cursed Box

We were told to buy a "curio" from a thrift store, write a story about it, and then make a painting based on our story. I bought this odd little unopenable box-looking thing (everyone's first question is "does it open?") because I couldn't figure out what it was. Turns out it's a soap dish. I MEAN, a magical box sealing a great evil.

This maid steals it from the castle, where it ended up. She barely makes it out of the country before whatever is inside the box destroys her. She was found on the road with the box several feet away--she apparently tried to throw it from her before she died.
