Artist's Note
--Title means "The Thieving Magpie" or "The Thievish Magpie" from Rossini's melodrama in two acts of the same name (not to mention, one of my favorite pieces of classical fare). See, don't say you didn't learn something new when you look at my work... --
"Now, now, step aside, don't crowd! There's room for everyone!"
It was often jokingly said that there were none for sorrow, for even one of the flock's arrival brought joy. However, it is also said that a lot of truth is said in jest. Often she had heard the joke while was setting up, or when she was taking a break leaning against the nearby wall as she was wont to do. It was an obscure, but warm way of welcoming her.
And Chess, as always, would only smile.
Chess is short for Chesapeake, as her mother was fond of the bay area when she visited the world of humans.
