Blood stained rain chapter 1

Chapter 1:
Dracko watched with a frown as Calla wondered aimlessly around the house. She was trying to avoid the problem, she was in pain she needed to cry but had already run out of tears. Tomorrow she would have to go back and face it; it would be better if she cried now. Dracko wished he were better with comfort. As he continued to watch her rearrange her bookshelves without thought and finally got fed-up. He left his perch on the windowsill and slid along beside her. He wrapped his arms around her and whispered gently "Lady Calla, it will rain." She snuggled against him and her body shook with sobs. He held her until her crying calmed and she could stand on her own again. He hadn't met to make her cry he thought it would help her. When she had found out her friend was dead she prayed that it would rain, that if he were safe in heaven to send rain on Monday. Tomorrow was Monday and Dracko for the first time in his life prayed, he too prayed for the rain, he hated seeing lady Calla like this.
Dracko was twitchy as he hovered invisibly behind Calla, it wasn't raining yet and Calla was only getting worst. He kept glancing out the window but the sun was shining, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. He forced himself to stop looking but within 15 minutes he looked again. It was pouring down rain he nudged Calla to look outside. She looked up briefly and smiled the look soon became confusion though and Dracko looked back out. There standing in the downpour was a man about 23 he was dressed in all white and gold. His sky blue eyes seemed to glow in the rain. He gave Calla a sad small smile. "Skyler?" Calla muttered. Dracko saw it then, this strange apparition looked exactly like her dead friend all but those blue eyes. Calla stood suddenly and asked to be excused, she drifted silently from the class and Dracko followed close behind.
Dracko remembered that day with such clarity. It was a month later now and he was going insane. Calla took the man in that day without hesitation. He was an angel they found and met to be Calla's guardian. His name was Kyrie and Dracko hated him. Or at least he thought he did but the more he saw the angel the more confused his emotions became. He came to find himself falling silent and staring every time the angel entered the room. He knew himself well enough to know this wasn't normal, and one evening as he lay on his bed he realized how empty it felt and his mind conjured up the image of Kyrie. He found the image of the angel's golden waving hair, porcelain skin, and flawless sky blue eyes enchanting. He swept the image away quickly as realization dawned on him; he felt an attraction to the angel.
Kyrie had grown incredibly irritated with Calla's dragon. He was arrogant, and tried to bully Kyrie into leaving. Over the first month they had argued more than Kyrie had ever in his life. But now Dracko was silent and uneasy, and every now and then Kyrie would catch him staring. He found this all very unnerving and even more so when he found he missed talking to the dragon tamer even if most of the time they argued. He found himself looking for ways to get the dragon to talk to him and pay attention. He watched the dragon over the top of his book and found him frowning down at the one in his lap, he hadn't turned from the first page yet and just sat there frowning. Kyrie glanced over at Calla who was completely absorbed in her book. Kyrie sighed and lowered his book. "Dracko what are you reading?" The dragon startled and closed the book holding it up for the angel to read. Kyrie smiled to himself, could it be that Dracko couldn't read? "I am sorry I can't see that from here." Dracko frowned and glared at the angel he moved to stand in front of him and handed him the book and started to walk to the hall. "You know you really should learn how to read." Dracko stopped in his tracks as he heard that singsong voice take on a mocking tone. Dracko turned back to the couch and put his hands on its back leaning over the suddenly fearful looking angel. "If you really think I should learn then you get to be the one to teach me." He smiled at the angel's thin frown. "Very well, Kyrie will teach you to read and you wont give him any trouble in the process." Calla glanced over the top of her book, "That’s on order to both of you."

Dracko leaned against the front of the couch staring at Kyrie as he explained the times you use a capital letter. Dracko closed his eyes and let that singsong voice flow over him. Kyrie turned to see Dracko falling asleep against the couch and pushed him over. "What the bloody hell was that for?" Dracko sat up on his hands.
"Pay attention or we'll be here forever."
Dracko sat back up and muttered "Your to damn distracting."
Kyrie felt himself flush as he heard those whispered words "What?" Dracko went red and stood up quickly headed down the hall. Kyrie stood and followed "What did you mean by that?"
Dracko stopped half way to his door "It was nothing, forget it."
"No!" He grabbed Dracko's arm and spun him around.
"I said forget it!" Dracko glared at the angel holding his arm and felt his heart beat faster.
"And I said no! Now what did you mean!" Dracko couldn't stop himself, he shoved Kyrie up against the wall and planted a hand on ether side of his head.
"I said your to damn distracting." He muttered, he was only an inch away from Kyrie's face. He stared into those stunned blue orbs. Staring into those eyes he lost control, he leaned forward and placed a firm and tender kiss on those perfect rosy lips. He could feel Kyrie melt into the kiss and slide down the wall slightly. Dracko released him and stared at that flushed face with half lidded eyes. He leaned forward again for another kiss. "Dracko..." The voice was soft in a warning tone, but in that voice Dracko also heard confusion and desire. He backed away from the angel "Sorry." He muttered and quickly retreated to his room.

The next several days were full of awkwardness and unnerving silence. It drove Calla to madness, silence was not something she was used to and it was even harder not telling the boys she knew what had happened. She needed to do something about this. Dracko was sitting on the floor by the coffee table scribbling words under music notes in his new found handwriting. Kyrie entered the room and glanced uneasily at Dracko. Calla’s eyes drifted from one to the other, Kyrie hovered in the hallway and Dracko lowered his head clutching his quill just a bit to tight. “Dracko if you aren’t feeling well, go to bed.” Dracko looked to her with a silent thank you and left his work to retreat to his room. Kyrie watched him disappear through his door and sat with a huff on the couch. “Lady Calla… I have a problem.”
Calla suppressed a laugh “I would say you have more than one.”
Kyrie rubbed his eyes “Lady Calla Dracko and I we…. Well….”
Calla sighed “Kyrie I know what happened, the walls told me. And both of you are being foolish about this. You need to talk about it.”
Kyrie shook his head franticly. “I… I can’t!” His voice was pained and confused.
Calla gave him a small smile, “Read his song, he started it not long before your run in.”
Kyrie picked up the sheet ‘Mi Amor’ read the title in thin smooth lines that Calla had obviously helped with. He glanced over the flute notes, they started very sad and at random times turn to a happier feel. He looked to the lyrics
“Darkness overwhelms me,
My blood staid hands haunt me,
Oh, bring light into my life,
Ah, mi amor,
My past brings me nightmares,
I am filled with hate, with sorrow,
Oh, save me from my darkness,
Ah, mi amor,
I am lost within my madness,
This monster I can’t control,
Oh, tame this beast within,
Ah, mi amor,
Oh how I need you mi amor..“
He let the paper drift back onto the table and covered his face in his hands. “You need to talk to him.” He frowned at her “Do you know why your feelings are confused? It’s because you’re listening to your head and not your heart. You love him Kyrie but you’re over thinking this. Go and talk to him.” Kyrie stared at her in disbelief and started shaking his head “STOP THAT! Go and talk to him, figure this out together or nothing will ever get better.”
