Chapter 2
The MACH System

The pitch black MACH and I were one in the same, what was going on? I felt the cool air rushing by its steal body as if it were my own; I felt the air filling its eyes as it flew to intercept the anomaly.

“Uh… Hannah, do you have any idea what’s going here?” I-it-we asked.

“Listen to me, I tried to tell you earlier, the 103-E is experimental for the same reason you’re like that now… MACH stands for Mechanized Automatic Cerebral Hybrid.” Hannah explained before getting cut off.

“I know that already!” I roared back to her angrily.

“I know you know, for now let’s just focus on the last two, Cerebral Hybrid. When we made the 103 we wanted to perfect its meaning, your brain, consciousness every thing is now one with the robot, you are it and it is you. Remember that.” Her voice echoed in my head, our head.

The anomaly finally came into view, it was nearing the planet’s crust, the thrusters to my MACH went into overdrive, we must’ve been going at least mach 3, “This thing really lives up to its name.” I pondered. I was in control of our actions. We were close enough to the enemy to hit, although we had no weapons I didn’t need any. I punched the enemy in its head to break its fall; we floated high in the sky without conflict. I got a good glimpse of it. It was just like my 103 but was all white.

“You are in violation of planetary peace law 2-1. You must stop and turn back or I will be made to use excessive force.” My voice rang from my machine. The enemy didn’t reply. “I repeat… turn back!” The enemy finally retaliated; it flew with blinding speed toward me and punched our face.

“Ow! Hey you bastard, that really hurt!” I yelled at it as soon as we stabilized. I shot forward for it and made it look like I was going for a punch but not far from making contact the fist opened and gripped its head, crushed it then threw the body aside. “Give up, the head is destroyed, you can’t fight very well without eyes.” I tried to reason with it.

It still tried fighting us, me. It went for another punch, this time I knew better. We slid to the side and round house kicked the enemy. It began plummeting to the ground, I should’ve just let it go in space but something from it was calling to me, to us. We flew down after it, caught, cradled it in our arms it before it got close enough to be noticed.

“Hannah, I need to prepare a medical room and repair room.” I activated the com link.

“What for?” She asked suspiciously.

“Just do it, please.” I flew back toward the base all the while being careful not to get noticed and careful not to drop the anomalous white MACH. We swiftly arrived back at the hangar which was far from the city and further from citizens. I landed, skidded and broke into a run, then slowed to a walk once we got closer. The hangar bay doors opened slowly. I placed the white MACH on the floor and brought the 103 back to its station, turned it around and had it latch onto the wall. The headset went back to normal and raised off my head, the restraints around my hands were released. The hatch opened and I stumbled out onto the bridges. I fell to all fours breathing deeply, heavily.

“I’m sorry but we need to get back to campus… let some of the older workers take care of this.” I said weakly as I staggered to my feet.

“Whoa, easy there, buddy.” Vahllen rushed to my aid slinging my arm over his shoulders.

“Thanks Casey… come on, Devin’s probably at school already.” I stumbled for the elevator and he followed close behind.

“Are you sure you’re okay?”

“Yeah, I’m fine… the 103 just takes a lot out of you… that’s all.” I rubbed my head. The elevator doors shut and we started going up.

“Hannah should be waiting top side for us.”

“She has a class now doesn’t she?”

“Yeah, but she wanted to wait for us so she can lock down the base.”

We made up to the surface and walked off the platform, Hannah was standing next to the retina scan. “Alright Claudia, initiate lock down, we’ll be back after classes.” She told the computer.

“Lock down confirmed… have a nice day.” The digital voice said to us.

“See you later Claudia.” I said and we walked toward our cars, I to my Mustang, Casey to his Corvette and Hannah to her Pejo 308. We slid into our cars.

We swiftly made it back to campus, it was between classes and people were crowding around their cars, and the fountain. We parked our cars next to each other. I slide out of my car careful not to scratch the one next to it.

“Ugh… dammit… not again…” I hissed as I stumbled away from my car, I had my hand covering a side of my face and my eye. I was feeling light headed and heard a strange voice… the same one that called to me from that white MACH. It sounded like a scream. What the hell was going on? The world around was spinning out of control. I fell to the ground, before my eyes shut I saw an image of a beautiful woman with long beautiful blond hair, eyes bluer and brighter than the sky and flawless skin… she looked right into my eyes and I into hers, I was hypnotized by her beauty.
