So...I think this is one time (out of many) that I really have to thank Christianity for inspiration. This is definitely a dark piece...well, anything with nails and hands is a dark piece. It is called, "Ave Verum Corpus" which means, "Hail One True Body." I'll find the lyrics...

The text is in Latin, and reads:
Ave verum corpus natum
de Maria Virgine,
vere passum, immolatum
in cruce pro homine,
cuius latus perforatum
unda fluxit et sanguine,
esto nobis praegustatum
in mortis examine.

A translation into English is:
Hail the true body,
Born of the Virgin Mary,
Truly suffered, sacrificed
On the Cross for mankind,
Whose pierced side
Flowed with water and blood,
Let it be for us, in consideration,
A foretaste of death.

I was going to do a full body, but once again, laziness won the day (and I should be studying chem).

I must curse my scanner. The original picture was much darker in the literal sense.
QUESTION! Should I do an entire body? An entire crucifixion, or no?

deep very very deep

Tod309 Says:

Dark and deep. Yet so true.

Minstrel Ayreon Says:

Dark, but with much more purpose than one usually sees darkness. In this case, the light only shines all the more brightly for it.

Kiwi Tang Says:

Dark, but very true.

Galloglasses Says:

very true, but not all that dark when you think about it. its really more blunt and to the point then dark. Albeit, so blunt that most modern day sensitivities could consider it dark. But as others have said it is quite true.

Also, a little criticism, in Jesus' right wrist, the nail is the wrong way around, it seems as if it was hammered intot he back of his wrist, compared to his left wrist in which the nail is hammered into the front side.

AngelsWing Says:

Thank you....It's so beautiful. I'm an exreemly Passionate Christian (Which is more of a relationship then a religion) and this stirred me deeply.

steppy Says:

as said on DA...ur artistic flaw astounds me
