He died, not because of his cancer, or because he lose his control upon Aesir, but because she killed him.
Fox Arès had such an abnegation that he pushed himself so hard to save humans that he condamned himself with his cancer, and she was forced to shorten his life. He would has lived so many months if he had saved strenght instead of wasting it to save them.
The choice was rude, but she convainced herself that she wouldn't have borne his pain. He's dead from her hands at least.
A year, two years passed. Every day she hoped he will return to her, braving the death, that it was just a trick or just a nightmare. But no, this was the reality, he's dead. Day after day she tried to rebuilt her life without him and with the help of the Meute who first blamed her for his death, but finally accepted her once she explained her reasons, and thanks to Karl's leadership. But that wasn't a success. Aurore Borea never forgave her.
Who would forgive someone who kills your best friend, whatever the cancer which condamns him? Who could accept a biological weapon who was responsible of billions of deaths in the previous era? The answer was quite simple.
No one can accept such a monster, and that's why she decided to return to him. She tried several times, but unfortunately her magical powers avoided her the death. Now that's her last chance.
She hesitated a bit. Will the humanity she created ages ago survive without her?
She took her clothes off, putted it close to the ruined bed which was one day the den of her love. Snow's falling through the ruined house, in a village deserted after that battle where so many died. No one will never find her, and then the last furry in all the world will disappear in the very same place she discovered her true goal in her life : the love.
