I really like it, but I think the flash on him should be a little more constant, rather than just have it flickering, have it stay, but have it shorten a little, rather than it completely disappearing

Hmm, while I do like the animation itself, the flashing effect looks odd. Something along the lines of flickering, hard to explain, though keeping the light and shades flowing along him per frame for instance.
I know why it looks odd, the fire just hangs there in mid air.
I happen to like the lighting itself though, and it does look really cool. Even though the logic in me wants to point out that fire doesn't behave like that :(
