Maya

cinnamon pepper coat
softest prettiest fur
round and warm and smiling
easiest calmest purr

kind to her favorites
fierce but seldom mean
the backyard was her kingdom
she knew she was its queen

friendly to her family
polite to the rest
watchful and nimble
eliminating all pests

she spent her days at peace
napping and monitoring grass
each day peaked at treat-time
her nose-marks haunt the window glass

she will be forever loved
