Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Two young lovers sit on a bench in the dead of night. Both sitting close and hold each others hand. They turn and look at one another and gaze deeply into the others eyes. She begun to smile and asked him what he saw, and this is what he said.

“When I first saw your eyes they were muggy and cracked glass globes filled to the brim with tears of sorrow, hate, and loneliness. Eyes that have seen nothing but the dark side of the light and only the sadness the world can offer. Eyes that looked to death as a sanctuary from the pain within. They cried out for help and yet no one had heard or even tried to hear their cries.”

He put his hand over her eyes and made them close. After a short while he took his hand away and took another look into her eyes.

“Now I see two clear crystal balls that shine with a brightness unseen by mortal eyes. The cracks are no longer there but the tears remain, no longer of pain and suffering but of warmth, beauty, and caring love. When I look into your eyes now I see a little girl that is smiling for the first time in her life. The serifs of Heaven swell with envy for they don’t have eyes as beautiful as yours. I love you, dear, and I always will”

She hugged him and buried her face in his shoulder, “I love you too…” she said with a whimper of joy.

Very compelling. Isn't it just astonishing the things you can find when we really search someone's eyes. You see something different everyday, and yet... you still see the same soul thats resided there in all along...
